So, with inflation rising, it’s predictable that gold rises in value, and it adds substantial value to the present andfuture value of the company. If the provincial government could put reason and compromise and support ahead of protocol, the company could reap this value sooner and provide enhanced value to the province. I’m in for the long term here so the. Delay doesn’t bother me much except for frustration of the historical inefficiency

Newfoundland’s caribou population is only a third of what it used to be, but it’s not something that should be sounding alarm bells, says Wayne Barney, senior biologist with the Department of Natural Resources wildlife division.

The population peaked in the mid-'90s at approximately 95,000, and current estimates set it at just under 30,000 animals.

“The cycle for caribou is quite long and it generally doesn’t show signs of recovery in an annual perspective that we see from year-to-year,” Barney said, noting it took decades for the herd to reach its peak.

But the population is still lower than it used to be and calf recruitment is playing the biggest factor in the overall picture.

Barney said calves aren’t meeting the 15 per cent survival rate required to sustain the population.

Predation appears to be the key contributor. This would be coyotes, bears, lynx and eagles.

“The human impact is certainly harder to tease out from a calf survival perspective as a direct influence,” he said. “Hunting wouldn’t be of a significant concern for us, because there would be a very low selection on calves.”

This is a great time to buy. The ratings from Nov 1 are still high even with today's drop. We'll see the environmental assessment cleared with in weeks and the stock will surpass the YTD high.

Since the days of Joey Smallwood, when in his election campaign he told fishermen to burn their boats, as he was going to create new jobs, there has been a steady exodus of residents to other parts of the world, looking for work, and leaving family behind. Finally the promise of returning home to help transition the province to a self sufficient one looms. The government’s reaction… save the friggin caribou. Maybe, if this ever succeeds, in spite of the government and the short sellers lurking in the shadows, someone , with the extra income from corporate taxes could buy shares or start a school of economics or high tech program like Quebec had gifted to them. That might just give birth to a new frontier of excellence for the people of the province, that doesn’t harm the caribou as well. That’s my opinion. So far ,marathon gold has shown respect and responsibility for all issues…work with them!

The recent bad news, coupled with the dead at PM bounce now rolling over, spells bad news for this stock.
1.75 USD is very easily in the future, maybe even down to 1.50 as tax loss selling season is upon us.
Even with their cash reserves, it's still risky to buy at these levels.
This company can ill afford anymore bad news.

I live here, so I can make this comment. The Government of the day, as those from the past, say we need jobs and our people to come home from away. Then an opportunity like Marathon Gold arises, you know what happens next, is the tree huggers start coming out of the wood work crying the blues about animal rights, water pollution, danger too humans and the big one,Climate Change.

We all know what happens next , the Government forgets about the creation of jobs and bringing our people home, because they care more about not wanting to offend these people who are against , mining, drilling for oil, forestry jobs. So we are just where I predicted, going no place except backwards.

I’ve been a long time investor in this Company and will continue holding, until hopefully this Government gets some balls.

Government oversight? Is it excessive. How many great initiatives have been stopped by a spotted salamander??

Will this “new management” change increase the forward process timeframe?
I’ve owned several junior exploration companies (I don’t know why I keep buying) and they all move at a snail’s pace. Seems like all they want is for a”major” company to buy them out !

Ps, FYI, I know a guy that owns a chunk of shares in this company and he lent them to the short speculators . He will make a healthy return as they pay him for the service. He cares not as he is in for the long term. Now, Ask yourself why an entity would want to suppress the share price of an upcoming producer of millions of dollars profit!😉

Read my research.total bs imo by ENVIRONMENTAL depth. Caribou are primarily attacked by bears n coyotes. Very few human problems and when mining done right no problems.

Now if the coyotes decided to start a mine, in the eighties, maybe the government would have resisted their presence…😁. Certainly ,they are a pain in the butt everywhere else, as we lost a cat and so many of our favourite bunnies to them, and they find small dogs delicious.

Two rounds of technical information requests based on the EIS have already been completed with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (“IAAC”), under a parallel federal Environmental Assessment process.

Trading halt and down in higher volume than usual? A bit worrying.
