Sam....as i told you before shorting a already beaten down stock is a dangerous game....I would advise to unwind your position...MGA will be triple digits before you know it.

Decent quarter compared to Q1, i'll take it. Management seemed confident and calmed about execution and they bought back shares. As input costs improve hopefully we will see better days.

The Bank of Canada recently hiked by 100 basis points and there are signs that the US FED could hike by 100 basis points in the next FOMC meeting. Fed Fund Futures are pricing in an 85 percent probability of a 100 basis point after the red hot 9.1% US inflation report. The toll of higher interest rates on the extremely leveraged automotive market is already beginning to show. Prime and subprime vehicle repossession rates are both skyrocketing.

Very bad economic data this week. Falling consumer confidence, contracting GDP, stubbornly high PCE inflation, falling real disposable income and real consumer spending, and sharply lower Chicago PMI all confirm a looming deep recession. The prices of my MGA bearish derivatives are rapidly rising with the increasing level of broad-based market fear.

Please take a look at ticker ILUS as well - ILUS International: EVs, Drones, UAVs, Urban Mining and patented firefighting and safety technology. ILUS is uplisting in 2022. They have increased their year over year revenue by 482 percent. ILUS has been profitable every quarter since inception. They run at a 20 - 25 percent profitability rate. ILUS has completed 7 acquisitions in the last 18 months. One of the more notable is that of Vira Drones, with an estimated billion dollar valuation. They have also acquired Wikisoft, ticker WSFT. On 7/8/2022 ILUS announced that they signed a binding letter of intent to acquire Quality International, a 100-million plus in revenue oil and gas company based in the UAE. Please see Yahoo Finance for more details and news. ILUS is worth a look...

I want to see the SP go above $80 and hold there for Q2 results July 29. Interesting to note this year Q2 results is being released in July and not the first week in August.

I made a detailed post about why I remain bearish but it keeps getting deleted. In short, I remain bearish because of worsening macroeconomic and geopolitical conditions. The bond market remains highly bearish. I continue to affirm that a greater decline is still to come.

The S&P 500 is down 22% YTD, yet analysts have yet to adjust down their 12-month EPS estimates. Forward EPS remains at $228.97, with a current PE of 18.94 and a historical mean PE of 15.97. If upcoming earnings are reported 15% below the forward at $194.62 earnings per share, then it would be reasonable to expect an eventual PE reversion to the historical mean. At a PE of 15.97 and an EPS of $194.62, the S&P 500 would be 3,108, implying that there is still at least 20% more downside for the S&P 500.

Strong recent rally in the automotive market because of two primary factors. (1) Recent comments from Fed Governor Waller have increased the futures probability of a 75 basis point hike instead of 100. And (2) there is renewed hope that Russia will deliver a reliable supply of natural gas to Europe after Canada sent gas turbines to Germany. Not raising rates high enough raises the risk of stagflation in return. And Putin has demonstrated that he is willing to use whatever leverage he has in Russia's war with Ukraine, so it is a certainty from my perspective that Russia will continue to use energy as a weapon against Europe. Earnings and forward guidance from other companies has been mixed so far. For Magna's upcoming earnings, it is important to note that the currency strength of CAD, RMB, and especially EUR are below Magna's forward estimates from the previous quarter and foreign currency weakness will certainly weigh down on Magna's upcoming earnings and forward guidance. This was the case for IBM and is partly why IBM's stock fell after its recent earnings.

German authorities are warning of a financial crisis and a collapse of industries with the increasing prospect that Russia could cut off natural gas to the country. Many industries including the automotive sector use natural gas in their manufacturing process or are connected to companies that heavily utilize natural gas.
