The earning was not bad. Should hold the price. The future guidance looks really good. From here onwards to next earning will be good. This should give the stock a kick to the upside.

Just the reaction I expected, stagnation in stock price. This is the epitome of no appreciation or depreciation.

The earning was better than analysts’ estimates:

Core earnings in Canada rose 8.5% from a year earlier to C$345 million ($270 million) in the second quarter, the Toronto-based company said Wednesday. Overall second-quarter profit topped analysts’ estimates.

Net income dropped due to unfavourable equity market performance, interest rate hedge ineffectiveness,
foreign exchange movements, etc .... are well understood. non-GAAP earning is better than expected.

lets say, just for the sake of discussion, that China shutdowns Pelosi 's plane... This would trigger a war between US & China for sure. What would be the impact for MFC, having a significant part of its business in Asia ?

On BNN market call, a caller called in sounding frustrated that MFC shares are pretty much dead. He's thinking of selling MFC and going to the banks instead. Christine Poole commented saying she holds MFC for her clients for income but, she too is now thinking about selling and not holding long. MFC is dead money people. There are better shares to hold for income as time goes on. Banks, or energy such as monthly dividend payouts such as Pembina or Enbridge.

Anyone complaining about the share price doesn't understand the business. Look at USBancorp over the last 5 years, its the same chart. Insurance is not sexy
