This stock has been quite disappointing over the last 6 months. What’s the issue exactly?

I’m in the P&C insurance business (for over 30 years) and I bought IFC shares even though it’s a big competitors. With the leadership team they have, no doubt it’s a great investment

    * RBC’s Geoffrey Kwan increased his Intact Financial Corp. (IFC-T +2.58%increase
) target to $200 from $195 with an “outperform” rating, while National Bank Financial’s Jaeme Gloyn raised his target to $215 from $209 with an “outperform” rating. The average is $196.69.

“IFC reported another excellent quarter driven by better-than-forecast underwriting income (primarily from the U.K./International and U.S. Commercial segments) and to a lesser extent, distribution income. IFC increased the dividend by 10 per cent and we think could announce another dividend increase when it reports Q4/21 results (we forecast an additional 10-per-cent dividend increase),” said Mr. Kwan. “Our Outperform rating reflects our view that the shares offer attractive valuation upside driven by continued positive fundamentals; a favorable industry backdrop; strong defensive attributes; and potential catalysts (e.g., de-risking of the RSA acquisition).”

Banger of an earnings release. Huge growth in book value underscores significant beats in EPS (1.60 vs analysts estimate of 1.04) and NOIPS $2.87 vs. analysts estimate of $1.75). Very happy with these results after the earlier announcement of significant catastrophic loss claims that were expected to burden the quarter. Q4 should be a blowout.

Wow, the results look great! Very proud of what the company has done, and given my large position I’m at peace with my investment. I think we should see a nice increase in the SP!

    * BMO’s Tom MacKinnon raised his Intact Financial Corp. (IFC-T +2.21%increase
) target to $205 from $200 with an “outperform” rating. Other changes include: CIBC’s Paul Holden to $200 from $197 with an “outperformer” rating; Credit Suisse’s Mike Rizvanovic to $218 from $215 with an “outperform” rating and Desjardins’ Doug Young to $195 from $190 with a “buy” rating The average is $198.77.

“Another quarter of strong underwriting performance which underpinned the operating EPS beat, also helped by better distribution EBITA and better investment income. Topline was modestly better as well. Earnings accretion from RSA ahead of schedule and management remains confident in achieving high-single digit accretion in first 12 months and upper teens within 36 months of closing,” said Mr. MacKinnon.

Frustrating to watch this literally do nothing for 2 months. Especially with updated price targets and nothing but strong financials.

Best property and casualty company in Canada. Good returns in a tough insurance market and now getting rate increases. Positive trends will likely continue.

Excellent business. My favorite insurance company in Canada.

I put them up there with Progressive.

Why no dividend raise I wonder? They usually raise with q4 release and with the financial beat I was definitely expecting a raise. Hmmm.
