UPDATE 1-Mexico's Pemex to hand over natural gas project to business magnate, El Heraldo columnist says
Mexican state oil firm Pemex has agreed to hand over control of its Lakach natural gas project in the Gulf of Mexico to Grupo Carso, a company belonging to Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, El Heraldo columnist Dario Celis reported on Thursday. Celis did not cite sources for the information and neither Pemex nor Slim's team immediately responded to requests for comment. Two sources told Reuters last month that Pemex and Slim's team were in talks over reviving the development of the Lakach field, the Latin American country's first deepwater natural gas field, a plan that has been shelved twice before.

UPDATE 1-Slim's Carso clinches pipeline deal with Mexico state power firm
A unit of Mexican conglomerate Grupo Carso has signed an agreement with state power utility CFE to build a gas pipeline in northern Mexico, the company said in a filing on Thursday. Carso, which is controlled by the family of Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, said the pipeline will be 416 kilometers (258 miles) long, but did not disclose the size of the investment. The project will be a continuation of the Samalayuca-Sasabe gas pipeline in northern Mexico to the border city of Mexicali in Baja California state, the company said.
