Its product candidates include latiglutenase, a targeted oral biotherapeutic for celiac disease designed to breakdown gluten into non-immunogenic peptides; biologic adrulipase, a recombinant lipase enzyme designed to enable the digestion of fats and other nutrients; capeserod, a selective 5-HT4 receptor partial agonist to treat gastroparesis; and niclosamide, an oral small molecule with anti-inflammatory properties for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. It is also developing CypCel, a disease management tool for monitoring the intestinal health of recovering celiac disease patients. The company was formerly known as AzurRx BioPharma, Inc. and changed its name to First Wave BioPharma, Inc. in September 2021.
