Share price for DRIP based on the average price over the next few days, so a little dip is not all bad news.

Said this several weeks ago but worth repeating . Bought FTS over 30 years ago and started DRIP . Split 2 for 1 in 1985 and 4 for 1 in 2005 . Paid $17.00 for first shares so 8 times number of shares plus reinvested divs. at current price ! If you watch market every day FTS doesn't seem to move but does nice in long run . To Chris , I'd be carefull borrowing in rising rate environment, having lived through 24% interest rates !

Is fortis stuck with same rates for customers but higher costs for the natural gas?

It's red when market is green, and green when market is red... interesting

Nice dividend increase. Long term holding as well. Does well on market fluctuations. A strong fundamental base not affected by commodity price fluctuation with future contracts to secure pricing stability for natural gas. Very stable. Investing wisely and not foolishly.

I don't have access to the report, but I saw this headline this morning: Wolfe Research Downgrades Fortis to Underperform from Peer Perform. Current inflation fears are not favourable to highly regulated markets that have a limited ability to pass cost increases onto the consumer. Also, the sentiment is that capital intensive industries, like utilities, do not perform as strongly in environments with rising interest rates. Some headwinds in the short-term but offers a good buying opportunity for long-term investors.

Already my largest holding at 14% but I may have to start adding more soon. It's becoming quite attractive as the yield approaches 4% on this solid, diversified behemoth of a utility.

Any other old retired goats here borrowing against their paid off home to buy Fortis? I'm in for a couple hundred thou. Can't resist borrowing at 2.45% and buying Fortis. Dividend pays the interest and then some. Shares are free.
