One of the few remaining bulls mentioned the price for renting in Maui. Just did a check on CAR and I could only book a week at a time. Budget-842.00 dollars for a week. Hertz-402 dollars. Who you go to? That was the last week of may.

The Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index increased 5.9% in March to hit a record high 179.2, the used-car auction firm says. Used car inventories are tight, with dealers ending March with a 29 days' supply of vehicles compared to a normal level of 44 days, the firm says. Rental agency Avis and used car dealers like Carmax and Carvana stand to benefit from the strong prices, analysts at Morgan Stanley say.

Does this CAR stock break any hedge fund? Just wondering.

Earnings Date May 03, 2021 - May 07, 2021
I cant wait to hear all the good news
R
Probably $79 finish today? It should be a $69 finish if things were true in this market and then down from there
C
Really low volume today , means it does not take much to move price one way or the other .
R
The stock price is 10% higher than it has EVER been
During a pandemic After adding large amount of debt After selling off a chunk of its fleet Still no sight line on revenues this year Going to still be travel restrictions for the foreseeable future
But yet the company share price is at $74 when the past peak was $67 back in 2014
Are things REALLY that good right now. It amazes me the number of investors that are all in on reopening stocks
R
Avis market cap is up $600 million today alone That is the market we are in today....totally lost from reality
R
Holy smokes! I see red!!! Hoping for more tomorrow, a nice down 3%+ Come on selling

Ontario, the largest state in Canada, declared stay-at-home emergency. CDC issues travel advisry on Canada and asks Americans to avoid non-essential travel to that country. Income from Canadian operation is next to nil as of now. Europe is in a mess. Yet this balloon is bulging up. Have a nice dream.
R
Stock went up due to iliquidity and short sellers covering some positions. The volume is drying up, good sign of weakening trend. 30/03 Close outside the BB, MFI decreasing along with II%. Great point to short. Who is already short, keep your position, will pay off.
S
Earnings Trend: CAR is unprofitable, and losses have increased over the past 5 years at a rate of 36.2% per year.
Accelerating Growth: Unable to compare CAR's earnings growth over the past year to its 5-year average as it is currently unprofitable
Earnings vs Industry: CAR is unprofitable, making it difficult to compare its past year earnings growth to the Transportation industry (11.5%). High ROE: CAR's liabilities exceed its assets, so it is difficult to calculate its Return on Equity
Yet, longs are not convinced. France is now in lockdown. Canadian provinces are going to be in lockdown. Europe is in a mess. Yet, $CAR is on high gear. Watch the ditch.

Check out car rental prices on Maui right now. That should give you some indication of the cash that rental car companies will be making as this pandemic winds to a close. The airport code is OGG.
C
Still going up on weak volume, when this stock and many other reopening stocks fall, it will be pure ugly . Waiting to see above average volume on red day ,and then maybe us shorts will have are day .
c
$CAR sold a quarter of its fleet and demand for rentals is growing causing prices to double. Less operational expense and more revenue with a smaller fleet. Add on top the value of used autos is increasing . I think this stock keeps climbing.

As of Feb 2021, NOMURA HOLDINGS INC held 5,147,059 or 7.4% of all Avis stock
The could be ready to sell some of those for profit to deal with their current issues
R
Again who is buying this company at these prices? I'm looking for a close around $71 or lower today!
I still have this feeling later this year or maybe early next that the stock market is in for a major correction again. When the fundamentals matter again and all these company with over inflated PE ratios are caught out. S&P will likely hit 4300 this year and then we will see a 25% correction to get back to something more reasonable based on what the market used to care about and that is profits!

Hertz has selected a new group of private equity firms to lead its exit from bankruptcy, as an expected recovery in global travel set off a bidding war for the American car rental group that filed for bankruptcy in May of 2020. Hertz said that a recent proposal led by Centerbridge Partners, Warburg Pincus, and Dundon Capital Partners in which the group would invest as much as $2.5bn in the reorganised group, “maximises the Company's opportunity to capitalise on the current market conditions for the financing of its business going forward and to exit Chapter 11 in a timely and efficient fashion”. In early March, Hertz had selected an offer from private equity firms Knighthead Capital and Certares Opportunities LLC in which the firms had agreed to lead a similar multibillion-dollar investment in the Florida-based company.
