Publication of Prospectusrepayment of debtAs part of its focus on optimising its capital structure, British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the"Company") announces today that it has published a prospectus dated 24 September 2021 (the "Prospectus") in relation to an issue of hybrid capital securities, a financial instrument which is subordinate to all senior creditors. This dual tranche issue comprises: a perpetual non-call 5.25 year capital security at #$%$1,000,000,000 with an initial coupon of 3.000% (the "NC5.25 Securities"); and a perpetual non-call 8.0 year capital security at #$%$1,000,000,000 with an initial coupon of 3.750% (the "NC8 Securities" and together with the NC5.25 Securities, the "Securities").The issuance allows the Company to raise incremental euro-denominated securities (above its net investment hedge threshold), which contributes to a more efficient alignment of earnings and currency. It also contributes to the diversification of the Company's sources of funding and further strengthens its capital structure. The issuance provides the additional benefit of supporting the deleveraging journey with the addition of a small benefit to the credit metrics. The Securities will be accounted as equity in accordance with IFRS standards. The Securities will receive an equity credit of 50% from Moody's and Standard & Poor's.The net proceeds from the issuance will be used for general corporate purposes, including the repayment of debt.

I bought 2000 shares this morning. Glad I did! I needed to boost my dividend income in the quarters that BTI pays it out.

Have been buying lots of BATS.L during this summer. Added another 20% today. Will buy another 20% if stock price goes down from here. 8% dividend yield, low payout ratio, strong cashflow, very profitable and low valuation. I love temporarily hated companies/industries.

    VUSE Products Will be Approved....

If they roll out the technology that was presented to the FDA and Congress.

    https://www.regulations.gov/document/FDA-2015-D-2496-0051

This technology addresses the dual mandate of reducing underage access to E-Cigarette products without infringing or limiIng access by legal age tobacco consumers.

This is a critical factor that demonstrates that VUSE products embedded with this technology is appropriate for the protection of public health.

Former FDA Commissioner Gottlieb has stated repeatedly the importance of preventing youth initiation of e-cig products.

“The youth use will be a critical countervailing factor in weighing against application approval. It’s incumbent on the e-cig makers to prevent youth initiation on their devices if they want to succeed through the regulatory process that’s prescribed by the Tobacco Control Act.”

See the gap down at 32.25 last Nov? Not saying it will get there, but in a full blown bear market, that's where it would likely go. Best guess now is 35 will hold for a bounce.

Secretive Billionaire Kenneth Dart Makes $6.7 Billion Bet on Tobacco Stocks.

He has reportedly built stakes worth close to £5bn in $BTI /BATS and IMPS through his Spring Mountain Investments fund.

And over the past six months Dart, 66, has quietly accumulated one of the classic sin investments. Through a Cayman Islands vehicle called Spring Mountain Investments, Dart has built a 7% stake in British American Tobacco that’s now worth $6 billion. Last month, Spring Mountain disclosed a separate $634 million position in rival Imperial Brands. The Financial Times first reported the firm’s tobacco investments.
Dart is the third-largest shareholder on the BATS share register.

The "e-cig problem" is simple to fix!

The solution is actually on the FDA website. Has been for a while.

    https://www.regulations.gov/document/FDA-2015-D-2496-0051

The attachment has a presentation with a detailed description of the technology that would solve the problem. Apparently it was presented directly to Mitch Zeller and provided to 17 members of congress.

I don't disagree with the negative views but getting an 8% + dividend and DRIP quarter after quarter is not a poor strategy . BTI stock trades in a narrow range acts like a bond proxy with a great yield.
