This dropped a bunch on high volume after 7pm US time tonight in after market. Other miners didnt. Somethings up, but no news. Somebody had insider knowledge.

According to markets. civilization is no longer going to use metals. ESG has made them unnecessary, I guess.

How big is BHP's Coal Business compared to American Pure Coal companies for instance? I know BHP does not even want to be in the Coal business and yet it is printing money right now because they were not able to sell it. Is Coal a side note for BHP or is it huge? I find it interesting to be invested in a company who has just made record profits on a commodity they don't want. Note, I also own HCC in the U.S. and I am looking at AMR. But they are both Met Coal not Thermal Coal. I know that Anglo American is still in Coal as well but it appears that RIO and Vale have no coal any longer.

This case flow machine is a screaming buy at 47 and 12% dividend. Their AISC is much lower than other miners. Still making insane margins off iron ore and Copper.

Yahoo says this pays a $6.50 dividend, but that is not really correct is it? They historically pay a Div in Mark and one in Sept that amounts around $3. This year it pay one in Sept at $3.5, but none in March, though it did have the break-off special dividend of WDS shares. So, does anyone have an idea of what we should expect going forward (I know it is speculative with how well they will do)?

Any news on this recent weakness in share price? I want to add more to my position but I can't seem to find anything specific to this pullback. One more day before ex-div and it seems strange.....

Is this all about Iron Ore? I often wonder is anyone makes money in the mining industry without Iron Ore being up? South 32 (SOUHY) is the only industrial metals mining company that I know of that does not have to deal with Iron Ore pricing. How ironic that it came from BHP. I think right now owning WDS and S32 are better bets than the mother ship. With that said, Copper is up slightly and Coal is sky high! BHP should not be down. Is this all about the Vale/Brazil law suit payout issue? Perhaps that is a worse liability that we I ever considered.

this is just a normal ex-dividend drop. it is always bought back up

In nine more days (9/22) all questions about the dividend will be settled

How is all the dividend one gets "tax-free"? For 90% of us, they still tax us the 15%, and they will only permit
$3,000 in losses to apply to one's adjusted gross income. I got out of ZIM, as the Jewish Gov. slaps a 30% tax hit on the dividends, and we can ONLY take the 15% credit. I don't mind paying taxes, but WE get screwed in the U.S. as the Gov. wastes the money starting wars, instead of helping the people, like in Scandinavia.

    That’s a huge drop eh

For USA citizens, is the BHP dividend subject to UK tax withholding ... or is the dividend paid in full to US citizens ?? Thanks, in advance.
