I see they moved the Fourth quarter earning conference date up one month to February 16th. Last year they announced the 4h quarter in early March. Why would they move it up.? My guess is that it is very good news and they want to get it out. Otherwise February would be another dead month for the stock. If the earnings are excellent , which i believe they will be around $.60/share, then the stock should start its move upward.

Just took another decent-sized bite....12K @ $13.94....I continue to like their execution and the game plan....also creating a decently-structured moat as the leading container ship lessor.

Expect annual EPS growth rate between 15-20% for at least the next three years....stock still way undervalued....I can wait.

Containership lease rates are up ! After 20 weeks at $129,000 per day for an 8500 TEU ship, the rate has gone up to $131,000 . A 4250 TEU vessel is now $92,000 per day from $90,000 per day. All classes of ship are up as of Jan 21. $56,000 per day for a 1700 TEU ship The market remains very strong and ATCO very undervalued

Spot rates for containerships up for the 700, 1100, 1700, 2500, 2700 and 3500 TEU ships are all up a few thousand per day. The 4250, 6500 and 8500 TEU ships are stable . close to 20 weeks at $129,000 per day for an 8500 teu ship. last year the rate was at $36,000 per day, just starting its move up to current levels
    Market is strong

Looks like our #2 shareholder just came into a bunch of cash. News agencies reporting Dennis Washington has sold his Montana railroad back to his buddy Warren Buffett. Let the buyout rumors begin!

Just went through my notes on Q 3 and here are my highlights ....Some interesting take aways from the conf call for me was when Graham Talbot briefly mentioned of 15% contracts with market rates juicing Q3 and later in the call the specific mention of the Washington's family purchase of 2.5 million shares at an average price of $15.34. They are smart people Talbot said. The third item was the discussion by Sokol on APR where he said they expect APR to be as big as Seaspan over time

Maersk to provide revised outlook for full-year 2022 on February 9. ....That ought to be interesting ...a read on the 2022 shipping market

Today's strength is on some decent volume, for a change. Nice to see.

A billionaire Named Ming used to build the ships for Seaspan. I believe that was the deal when he became a partner in Seaspan. There is a or was a Seaspan shipyard in Canada but it is a drydock, refit deal, not a shipbuilder.

With 2022's EPS estimated at over $2 per share, how does ATCO not hit $20+ this year. Is a 7 PE acceptable for a company growing at around 25% per year?

Once again containership lease rates are staying stable with the 8500 TEU class ship at $129,000 per day. The only class ship with a price change is the 1100 TEU class ship which has moved from $50,000 per day to $52,000 per day. Dec 7th data.........Rates are strong and stable 16 week at 129k for the 8500 class ships

Today will be 11 sessions without a decline on ATCO. Perhaps this is the year that the stock will gain the respect of the investing public. There will not be a surprise write down this quarter so the earnings should far exceed the estimates. This is also the quarter that they will give estimates for the 2nd quarter and full year 2022. That too will be very positive. The stock rose in 2021 from $10.78 on January 1st to $14.18 on Dec 31st..That is a 31% increase which is outstanding. This year look for even a higher return.

Recently looked into ATCO. They have a wholly owned shipbuilder and shipbuilding is hot right now with companies opting to renegotiate existing orders rather than focusing on new new builds because they are full. This lets companies adjust for steel prices and if someone decides they don't want a ship they go to the next in line and happily report a opening. They supply both commercial and government boats via the Canadian coast guard. With climate change opening up trade routs via the arctic region up north this means Canada will have a lot more water to patrol. They also service ships and recently financed expanded capabilities.

They also operate other segments for green energy.

So an interesting all around company with multiple hot sectors right now. I can only afford to buy in 100 shares but I'll keep an eye on it for more.

When this is trading in the twenties it will still look cheap.

Another week with 8500 TEU ships at $129,000 per day. 15 or 16 straight weeks now ...I'm loosing count

in 2018 the rate was $15,000 per day and last year $36000 per day.

And here it comes, the 3pm short fest. I'm thinking about ditching this thing and just buying some of the other lower-quality shippers with worse fundamentals that don't have a significant short interest. They have performed much better and don't have these games played with their stock price. What do they say, they'll either scare you out or wear you out?

Perhaps I should listen again to the last conf call, but I am sure I heard the CFO comment that 15% were at market rate helping Q3. I think some ships that they forward fixed the rates on had a period of market rates before they ran out into the new contracts. The new contracts will also bump earnings
    GLTA ...headed to $20 IMHO

I think if Fairfax was reducing their position, they would have to disclose any transactions within 2 days or so since they own more than 10% of the company. They may be subject to the short-swing rule and/or Hart-Scott-Rodino Act which would require additional disclosure. I’m not 100% certain on this since they are technically a foreign entity. But they are listed on the NYSE and should generally fall under the SEC umbrella.

Rates are staying super high. ATCO earnings will rise and the next guidance will propel the stock much higher IMO An 8500 TEU ships is still at $129,000 per day vs $36,000 per day last year. Week 14 or 15 at 129k
