I’ve been a holder for many many years, Remember that most of ABT sales (over 70%) is International. They will get through this as they are very diversified and a very well run company. Look for a Dividend increase in the next 1-2 weeks.

“The FDA could not link the infections in the infants directly to the plant, but the agency stated the situation was a "highly unusual combination of events."
Califf (FDA Commissioner) said the FDA could not rule out the link between the infections and the unsanitary conditions at the plant.”

Apparently in some media sources, Abbott is guilty until proven innocent. Funny how the government is always “reactionary” and points fingers externally rather than being proactive. However, that would require vision, insight, and intelligence,...perhaps our govt should at least acknowledge that it has shortcomings and that playing the blame game isn’t contributing productive and collaborative solutions to avoiding future issues.

ABT wiped out last two years of gains. It will NOT regain hegemony and leadership in nutrition products.

When buyers of tsla and gamestop or others alike are ready to invest, companies like abt will make a lot of sense now that the stock market casino is closed.

Goverment has a knee-jerk reaction with blaming businesses and manufacturers rather than realizing that your own goverment policy and slow goverment response is part of the problem. And lets not even talk about this WIC program where cost, supply, and demand is convoluted leading to the product shortage. No company is going to ramp it up if there's little or no profit for them.

“ Chicago-based Abbott has emphasized that its products have not been directly linked to the bacterial infections in children. Samples of the bacteria found at its plant did not match the strains collected from the babies by federal investigators. The company has repeatedly stated it is ready to resume manufacturing, pending an FDA decision.”
Pharma companies are heavily scrutinized by gov’t regulators. It has taken those Regulators THREE MONTHS to determine that the bacteria could not be found in the product or in the production area. Clearly Abbott erred on the side of caution to recall suspected product. The Gov’t had to sight something and Abbott is taking the path of least resistance to accept that they can improve their facilities and process. Three months…why did it take so long?

Since 75%+ of Federal workers including the FDA Federal workers are still at home with full pay, don't expect rapid movement on "inspections".

I have been observing the development in the past few months. I do hold some shares and like to add more. I have jumped in this morning as the baby formula problem seems to be resolved. I think we are at the bottom now. Good luck, longs.

I am an old guy. going on 68 years. Yes, I grew up in the late 50's and the 60"s. We had a big family. We also lived on a farm. My Mother did breast feeding for all of us until it was time to move on. We all grew up on our own produced cow's milk. We survived and thrived.

ABT has been a respected long standing solid company. The baby formula problem was caused primarily by ABT. They did not operate their production facility in a way to assure it place as 40% of the market. It seems they did not do correct operational necesities to keep the plant clean and performing. The FDA has a big problem and that continues. Obviously ABT stock has not done well as a result. I have sold half my position in hopes that ABT will come back.

i am a product of a large family. I was born in 1954. I have two older siblings and 4 younger siblings. Our mother breast fed us all for around 5 months. She then converted us to Cow's milk.(We lived on a small farm and we milked our cows twice daily), We all survived and thrived. It CAN be done without "formula".

ABT is going to recover nicely. None of the sick children have been traced back to Abbott. Water bottles were contaminated that parents used to mix the formula.
