With a price tag of at least $10 to $5 billion a year globally, food fraud is no cheap trick.

The Grocery Manufacturers Association estimates that the scams affect about 10 per cent of commercial food products.

But in addition to the loss in profits, masking the real contents or type of food can also harmful health affects.
