The derailment, involving 47 rail cars, took place in the afternoon in Sibley, Union Pacific said, adding the cause of the incident was under investigation. Pine Labs, a startup that offers merchants payments terminals, invoicing tools and working capital, said on Monday it is raising $285 million in a new financing round as the nearly two-decade-old firm looks to expand its business. Baron Capital Group, Duro Capital, Marshall Wace, Moore Strategic Ventures and Ward Ferry Management financed the new funding round, while existing investors Temasek, Lone Pine Capital and Sunley House Capital also participated in it, the Indian startup said. The new round valued Pine Labs at $3 billion, up from about $2 billion in a December round last year.
China's Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics has agreed to acquire HyTest, a supplier of raw materials used in tests for diseases such as COVID-19, to gain independence in making and developing core materials for testing reagents. Mindray's purchase of Finland-based HyTest Invest Oy and its subsidiaries for an estimated 545 million euros ($661 million), agreed to in a signing on May 15, would give it the resources of a major developer and manufacturer of antibodies and antigens for diagnostic products, the company said in a filing on Sunday. Mindray's share rose as much as 8.8% on Monday.
South Korea's SK bioscience said on Monday its COVID-19 vaccine facility had received European Union Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, paving the way for exports to the bloc. The certification approves the production and processing line and quality system of SK bioscience's Andong plant, which produces COVID-19 vaccines developed by AstraZeneca Plc and Novavax Inc. It will enable SK to export vaccines to the European markets.
