Here's What Your Favorite Horror Movie Actors Look Like Now

Starring in a horror movie is a lot of work. Between the countless hours of screaming, running, crying, night shoots, and being covered in sticky Hollywood blood, it's high time we give horror film actors their fair props. And, sure, there have been many actors and famous people who've starred in horror films, and probably some celebs you may have even forgotten did a scary movie or two, but the following actors screamed their hearts out - forever burning a spot in our horror movie vernacular. So let's pay a visit to some of the actors who've helped fuel our nightmares.

Langenkamp helped put Freddy Krueger on the map when she starred as final girl Nancy Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. She later returned to the role in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), and Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1996).

The former Elm Street star splits her time between acting (appearing in Netflix's The Midnight Club) and working alongside her husband doing special effects for hit projects like American Horror Story and Star Trek Into the Darkness. She also recently served as a radio host for a small Malibu FM station, operating under the pseudonym "Sandy Bottoms."

You can't look back at late '90s horror without remembering Sarah Michelle Gellar. Not only did the actress slay TV ratings during her seven-season run on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), but she also appeared in a string of successful horror flicks, including I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Scream 2 (1997), The Grudge (2004), and The Grudge 2 (2006).

In recent years, Gellar, who married her I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. in 2002, has appeared in a few television projects, including a failed Cruel Intentions sequel and The Big Bang Theory. She also penned a cookbook titled Stirring up Fun with Food in 2017.

The statuesque actor broke out onto the horror scene starring as the lead role in Candyman in 1992. He also appeared in Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995), Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999), and Night of the Living Dead (1990).

Following his early work in the genre, Todd has gone on to become a bona fide horror icon, lending his talents to the Final Destination franchise, a few Hatchet films, and the Candyman reboot in 2021.

When the indie found-footage hit The Blair Witch Project was released in the summer of 1999, moviegoers had trouble separating fact from fiction. But for Heather Donahue, the film's leading lady, a real obituary was even posted in her honor.

While the Blair Witch star still makes appearances at various horror conventions, she also deals in the business of pot. She even wrote a book about it in 2012 titled Grow Girl, which chronicled her move from Hollywood to a collective society called "Nuggettown" in California's Sierra Mountains.

Not only did Englund don Freddy Krueger's glove in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984, but he also portrayed the infamous horror villain in all seven sequels as well as the short-lived Elm Street TV series Freddy's Nightmares from 1988-1990.

Since hanging up Freddy's glove, Englund has lent his marquee horror name to a slew of indie flicks, including The Midnight Man, The Funhouse Massacre, and Fear Clinic. He is also set to appear in the fourth season of Stranger Things and served as host for True Terror on Discovery Plus.

Actress Katie Featherston pulled double duty as part-actress/part-camerawoman in the original Paranormal Activity. The film was produced for just $15k but went on to crush box office history, raking in over $193 million when it was released in 2009.

Since creeping us out in five Paranormal Activity films, the Texan beauty has appeared in several short films as well as an episode of Big Little Lies.

Actress Linda Blair was only 14 years old when she starred in the iconic 1973 horror film The Exorcist. In the film, Blair played Regan MacNeil, a 12-year-old girl who begins to experience dark, unexplainable occurrences. The film catapulted the young actress into the spotlight and went on to spawn several sequels - one of which, The Exorcist II: The Heretic, saw Blair return to the role that made her famous.

Today, Blair still makes time for select on-screen appearances, but she devotes most of her time to various philanthropic endeavors and meeting her adoring fans at horror conventions all over the world.

Following a seven-season stint on the family-friendly show 7th Heaven, Biel took a complete 180 starring in the gritty horror remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003. The slasher was a massive success and launched Biel into movie stardom.

In 2017, Biel served as executive producer and star for season one of the critically acclaimed series The Sinner. She has since stuck around behind the scenes, serving as executive producer on seasons two, three, and four. The actress/producer is currently married to Justin Timberlake, and the pair share two children.

Ironically enough, the role that achieved True cult status was her witchy turn in The Craft in 1996. In the film, True portrayed Rochelle, a teenage girl who delves into witchcraft along with her friends.

In addition to her recent convention appearances, True has appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Good Trouble, Better Things, and Sharknado 2: The Second One!

What's your favorite scary movie? Well, for Neve Campbell, it's probably Scream. The Canadian-native starred as final girl Sidney Prescott in the 1996 Wes Craven-directed horror classic, as well as Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011).

The scream queen took a little break from battling Ghostface to star on the stage in London's West End, and she also killed it in Netflix's House of Cards. In 2022, Campbell is set to return to the role that made her famous, starring once again as Sidney Prescott in the Scream reboot.
