WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP — Dozens of cars were in the parking lot at Trinity Bible Chapel for both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services Sunday. Under the current provincial shut down regulations, religious services are allowed to operate at 15 per cent capacity. “The church has a capacity for 575 people. Under the provincial regulations, the capacity for the church would be 86,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman to the Record previously. People attending religious services must follow public health guidelines on social distancing. On April 3, the Ontario government implemented another provincewide shutdown as an “emergency brake” measure. Trinity Bible Chapel held an indoor service last week on April 4. Regional bylaw observed approximately 300 people attending at that service, said Redman. One charge was issued to the pastor and another to the church organization after that service. Both charges were related to organizing a large gathering, said bylaw. As of April 9, Trinity Bible Chapel, located on Lobsinger Line in Woolwich Township, had 26 charges still before the courts in connection with allegedly violating COVID-19 restrictions, according to regional bylaw. AUBURN, N.S. — A Nova Scotia high school student suspended for bringing attention to someone wearing a shirt at her school that she found offensive, says the disciplinary penalty has since been revoked. Kenzie Thornhill says she returned to class at West Kings District High School in Auburn, N.S., on Friday, following a conversation with the school's principal who told her the local school board had reversed its decision. The 17-year-old Grade 12 student says she was suspended last week after posting a photo online of someone wearing a shirt with lyrics on the back that mimicked the style of "Deck the Halls," with one line reading: “'tis the season to be rapey.” Kenzie says she was upset because she knows people who have been victims of sexual assault. She says although the image only showed the shirt, and not the student, the school board suspended her for five days for posting the photo in violation of school rules. In an emailed statement sent Friday, Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education executive director Dave Jones would not discuss specific details, citing privacy, saying only that "the school has revisited the decisions made in recent days related to discipline." PRFoods’ unaudited preliminary consolidated turnover in the 3nd quarter of the financial year 2020/2021 amounted to 14.15 million euros, a decrease by 23.5% compared to the same period a year ago (3Q 2019/2020: 18.49 million euros), including sales decrease in wholesale by 56.1% and HoReCa sector by 45.6%, whereas sales in retail sector increased by 9.8%. Indrek Kasela, CEO, PRFoods: „As expected, HoReCa and wholesale sector are still down due to continuing COVID restrictions in these sectors. We are happy that we are posting nearly 10% growth of retail sector, in Estonia over 22% on y-o-y basis. We also see that markets are recovering, already in March 2021 sales we were at the same level as March 2020. Bigger impact has been drop in salmon prices compared on y-o-y, our average quarterly price of fresh fish sold was 6.1 eur per kg vs 7.3 eur per kg year ago. In terms of tons produced, we have increased our production in tons every month in 2021. We can predict salmon prices going up for rest of 2021 as markets are opening and demand is returning at accelerated pace. This will positively impact our profitability in coming months. Overall, we have much better visibility and confidence in business forecast for upcoming months. Our focus on cashflow improvement and streamlining operations is starting to pay off. We are looking also at increased farming volumes in 2021, giving us additional boost in terms of sales and profit.“ In the third quarter of the financial year, the sales declined in all product groups compared to the third quarter of the previous financial year. Canada's chief public health officer says the country is nearing the peak of the second wave of COVID-19, as several provinces are struggling to contain new outbreaks. Dr. Theresa Tam's statement comes as Ontario reported a record 4,456 cases of COVID-19 today. Tam says intensive care admissions across the country increased by 23 per cent over the last seven days compared to the week before, which is putting strain on the health system. She says COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations are increasingly impacting younger people and says there's been a jump in the number of hospitalizations among those 40 to 59 years old. A hospital at the centre of an outbreak in northwestern New Brunswick is among those facing strain, with seven of its nine intensive care beds filled with patients fighting COVID-19. And authorities in Quebec are tightening the curfew in the Montreal and Laval areas to 8 p.m. from 9:30 as of this evening as the province grapples with a rise in cases.
