Queen Elizabeth is adding another notch to her already impressive political belt—today the monarch held a meeting with President Joe Biden, making him the 13th sitting U.S. president Her Majesty has personally spent time with. (The Queen's reign has actually encompassed 14 American presidents' terms, but she missed meeting with Lyndon Johnson.) Biden and his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, met with the Queen at Windsor Castle, where she's been living during the pandemic.

The monarch initially met with the Bidens at a reception prior to the summit on June 11 . Though it's unlikely we'll ever know the specific details of the conversation, it certainly seems probable that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic was a matter of discussion. The leaders may also have touched on the upcoming summit itself, as well as the passing of Queen Elizabeth's husband, Prince Philip, earlier this year, for which Biden had already sent his condolences, "on behalf of all the people of the United States."

Rather than an official state visit, which usually involves banquets and ceremonies in the president's honor, the Bidens' trip, which marks his first presidential journey abroad, is a slightly more understated affair, tacked on to Biden's trip to the UK for the G7 summit. While he's abroad, Biden is also scheduled to have talks with leaders of the European Union in Brussels, and a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Though this particular trip may not involve quite the same pomp and circumstance as an official state visit, that's hardly a slight—many presidents, including former president Donald Trump, had an initial, more informal meet-up with Her Majesty before later being invited back to the UK for an official state visit.

On Sunday, the President and First Lady traveled to Windsor, where they met with Queen in the quadrangle of Windsor Castle where they watched a military display before heading inside for tea.

For the occasion, Dr. Jill Bidn wore a powder blue suit and nude heels while the Queen wore a pink floral dress and a matching hat.
