America's best beaches, 2013

As sure as Memorial Day weekend heralds the unofficial beginning of summer across America, the annual announcement of the nation’s top 10 beaches by Stephen P. Leatherman, a.k.a. Dr. Beach, has become as much a tradition as that first sunburn by the shore. Leatherman is the director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University, in Miami.
