2016 Honda Civic Coupe: First Look
- 1/7
More spacious yet smaller, the Civic’s overall length and rear overhang are shortened by 5.5 inches, all the while adding an impressive 5 inches of rear legroom.
- 2/7
Like the sedan, two engine choices will initially be offered: a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine putting out 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque with estimated EPA fuel-economy ratings of 31 city /41 highway /35 combined mpg (for CVT; a six-speed manual is also available), and a new 1.5-liter direct-injected turbo for higher grade trims (likely EX and the new Touring trim) that makes a peak 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. For those that want more power, an Si and a Type R version are still on the way.

Even with the larger cabin, the profile looks more athletic, thanks to a roofline that’s an inch lower than the sedan, and a front overhang 1.4 inches shorter than the ninth generation coupe.
- 5/7
Learning its lesson from the panning of the last generation, Honda continues with a more premium feel for the coupe’s interior, with changes like an acoustic glass windshield promising less wind noise. It also ditches the polarizing two-tiered dash display in favor a more traditional one.
- 6/7
In line with the latest crop of Hondas, the Civic coupe will also offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 2016 model also sees the introduction of an electric parking brake.
