Verizon buys Yahoo for $4.8B; Outerwall agrees to $1.6B buyout; Apple iPhone sales to cross one billion

Yahoo (YHOO) – Verizon (VZ) has bought Yahoo’s core business for $4.83 billion. The deal must be approved by regulators and is expected to be finalized early next year.

Outerwall (OUTR) – Apollo Global has reached an agreement to take Outerwall private for $1.6 billion. The deal is expected to close during the third quarter of 2016.

Apple (AAPL) – The Financial Times is reporting that the tech giant is set to sell its billionth iPhone. Apple is scheduled to report quarterly earnings after the bell on Tuesday.

SolarCity (SCTY) – Reuters is reporting that a finalized merger agreement between SolarCity and Tesla (TSLA) could come very soon. Tesla made an all-stock offer for SolarCity worth $2.8 billion last month.

Sprint (S) – The wireless carrier announced it has added 173,000 post-paid customers in its fiscal first quarter. Total net additions were 377,000.

Pulte Group (PHM) – The home builder was upgraded by Deutsche Bank (DB) to buy from hold. The company also raised its price target to $27 from $20.
