Xbox Series X and Series S pre-orders available Tuesday, and they're already selling out

As quickly as pre-orders for the next Xbox were made available, several retailers appear to have already sold out.

Amazon, Target and Walmart are among the retailers showing pre-orders for the Xbox Series X have sold out. "Preorders have sold out," reads a message on Target's website. "Check back on release date."

On Walmart, the Series X is shown as "out of stock," while Amazon's listing reads as "currently unavailable." A listing on Best Buy shows the video game console from Microsoft as "coming soon."

Consumers had the chance Tuesday to pre-order the Xbox Series X and Series S ahead of its Nov. 10 launch. The Series X will sell for $499, while the Series S goes for $299.

Consumers could also pre-order the new Xbox consoles through Microsoft's All Access program, where you can get the Series S or X and two years of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $24.99 per month for 24 months. Those preorders opened at 11 a.m. ET in the U.S. at the Microsoft Store, Best Buy, Gamestop and Walmart.

The initial process for snagging a console was rocky, based on reactions from social media. Some users reported issues such as pages not working or orders disappearing from carts. Amazon's page, for example, worked intermittently as eager fans rushed to snag the device.

September has been a huge month for video game fans, as pre-orders for both the Xbox Series X and S as well as Sony's PlayStation 5 launched ahead of their holiday releases. The PS5 will be available Nov. 12 starting at $399.99.
