Worms Have Been Found in Sandwiches at Two Different McDonald's Stores

From Delish

As much as people love to customize their orders, there are certain secret ingredients nobody wants in their fast food. Like splinters. Or dead frogs. This time, two women in Kentucky claim to have found something equally disturbing: worms crawling out of their sandwiches.

Reidland resident Lacey Jo Lovett had been eating a McDonald's McChicken in Draffenville, Kentucky on Tuesday, when she noticed a worm crawling on a piece of lettuce that had fallen from her sandwich. She was so stunned she posted about it on Facebook:

Unfortunately, that wasn't the only close encounter of the dirt-eating kind. Two days before that, another woman, Madison Stephens, also of Kentucky, was eating at a McDonald's in Mayfield with her one-year-old son when the same thing happened to her. Stephens ordered a fish sandwich, and after eating half of it, a worm fell out and began crawling towards her son's cheeseburger.

According to WPSD, the worm was already touching Stephens' son's sandwich by the time she saw it.

"If I hadn't seen that worm, my son would have eaten that because it was already on top of his sandwich," she told the station. "That's how close he came to eating it."

After sending Stephens a $10 McDonald's gift card in the mail, a McDonald's spokesperson issued the following statement: "Food quality and safety are a top priority for us. We will continue to take all appropriate measures to gather all facts and resolve the matter."

Since then, health officials have inspected the two locations and no problems were uncovered, said Michael Love, owner-operator of the two restaurants in question.
