World markets are rallying

Wall Street’s Fed-inspired rally still has legs. All three major averages (^GPSC, ^DJI, ^IXIC) are sharply higher following gains in overseas markets. This comes after the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged, but signaled it’s likely to raise them before year’s end.

Stocks to watch

SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS) rose in early trading after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral. The bank sees a recovery in the company’s theme park attendance in 2018 and beyond as the company redeploys cash saved by a recent dividend cut toward new capital expenditures. Earlier this week the stock sank following news that the company eliminating its dividend.

Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), the home goods retail chain, posted a miss on both its top and bottom lines for the second quarter. Same-stores sales fell 1.2% as the brick-and-mortar chain struggles to lure shoppers.

AutoZone (AZO) shares are on the move in early trading. The auto parts retailer delivered earnings per share that topped estimates, but revenue came in shy of forecasts. However, profit and sales both rose from a year ago as the company opened new stores.

Yahoo (YHOO), parent company of Yahoo Finance, is in the spotlight this morning. Recode first reported that this week Yahoo is expected to confirm a massive data breach that may have exposed several hundred million user accounts. The tech publication said the hack could complicate Verizon’s (VZ) planned takeover of Yahoo.

Red Hat (RHT) shares were up sharply this morning. The Linux and open-source software distributor lifted its outlook for the current quarter and the year after posting better-than-expected earnings and revenue for the second quarter. Sales surged 19% from a year ago thanks to solid demand for its products.

Clinton holds lead over Trump

Hillary Clinton has a six-point lead over Donald Trump in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. Clinton leads Trump 43% to 37% among likely voters, but a majority of those surveyed view both candidates negatively. And Trump is seen has more honest than Clinton. How much pressure is Clinton under going into the first debate next week?
