Calgary police say they believe a woman who was found dead in her car in the city's southeast was targeted, and now they are looking for more information.

Police say what was previously considered a suspicious death has been deemed a homicide.

An autopsy Friday identified the victim as Norma-Jean Muirhead, 35, of Calgary and British Columbia.

Staff Sgt. Lee Treit with the homicide unit says they believe the crime took place in Muirhead's vehicle, which was parked in the community of Cranston.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or witnessed a disturbance near the 500 block of Cranston Drive S.E. between midnight and 6 a.m. on Wednesday to contact police.

Treit says they believe someone in the residential community may have seen the events leading up to, or right after, Muirhead's death — which would be Calgary's 19th homicide.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Calgary police by calling 403-266-1234 or provide the information anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
