Why should your valuable documents not be laminated?

Most were in the question of laminating their credential or keeping it the way it is. The reality is that what has benefits undoubtedly has pitfalls as well. It is necessary to call the two into perspective.

Lamination is not deemed a safe conservation procedure because, throughout the application, the method can potentially degrade a document leading to high heat and strain. Also, the laminating products themselves can be chemically fragile and thus lead to record degradation.

But first Let's discuss Lamination and why everyone chooses lamination.

Lamination is a system by which thin layers of translucent polythene nylon are mixed to safeguard paper records such as credentials, results, approvals, etc.

Here are some meaningful explanations of why individuals seem to laminate their documents/certificates below

  • Lamination prevents paper materials from being harmed by fluid, dust/dirt, grease, and hindered edges.

  • Laminating is claimed to prolong the life cycle of vital records such as credentials and results.

  • It enhances the product's strength, consistency, and presentation.

There is much to it, so those are the most significant reasons individuals often want to laminate. A lot of us think what's not intended to be real. Laminating documents, photos, and other paper products; however, are not fully helpful, there are cons added to it. The reasons that you do not laminate certificates & other records are below :

Overheating

If the hot laminating unit is not correctly handled, the paper may be lost for good. I am not a survivor of this, but if not done properly, lamination will burn down the paper.

Seal Security

Such certificates include prints, security labels, markings, or stamps; these certificates or records are stretched out entirely when laminated. Some institutions are too serious about such seals, international institutes, flattening papers that can not be readily verifiable or accepted.

Photocopy

Laminated documents may/may not achieve the greatest result due to their shiny polythene texture in situations where you'll have to repeat certificates using a photocopier. When photocopied, blurred lines, script, and colour can also be produced.

Keep away from laminating legal certificates so that you realize how much harm you could do to your certificate when laminated, causing lamination in a significant institution to make it illegitimate.

Remember to check the efficiency of the system being used if you wish to laminate. If it is not overheated, be sure from recently completed sample work, one can easily check it. Ensure if such a certificate has been already scanned and save it for potential preference directly on your mail or cloud drive.
