Where you can find the biggest Black Friday discounts on TVs, laptops and clothing

Black Friday is fast approaching and nearly 137 million savvy shoppers are counting down to one of the biggest retail weekends of the year, according to the National Retail Federation. To help identify some of the deepest discounts and weed through the thousands of deals that retailers are releasing each day, Yahoo Finance spoke to Benjamin K. Glaser, of DealNews.com for the site’s top picks across all categories.

TVs

Every year TVs top the list for most in-demand Black Friday deals and this year is no exception. “This is the first year we’re seeing significant discounts on 4K TVs because it’s finally worked its way into the mainstream. Manufacturers are already working on 8K TVs,” says Glaser. Image quality and resolution in 4K TVs are four times the resolution of full HD.

For a stand-out deal, check out Best Buy for a 49-inch Toshiba LED Ultra HDTV for $199.99 — $250 off the original price of $449.99. And that comes with a built-in Chromecast streaming device that would retail for $69 on its own.

If you’re in the market for a smaller 27-inch or 32-inch monitor, Target is selling a Polaroid 32-inch flat panel 720p LED HDTV for $85, discounted from $159.99. According to DealNews, a smaller set with similar specs went for $40 more earlier this year, so this larger model is a steal.

Laptops

Before shopping for a new computer, Glaser urges shoppers to hone in on what type of specs they really need. Going with a netbook or Chromebook can be an inexpensive option if you prefer to connect to the internet and work off the cloud. Highlighting Costco’s doorbuster deal, Glaser recommends a 14-inch Acer Chromebook with 1080p for $65 off and expects it to drop to $230 — which is discounted $40 more than competing retailers. This deal is available online only.

An even less expensive deal that goes live on Black Friday is this 11.6-inch Lenovo laptop that will be $100 off at Best Buy, but currently priced at $199.99.

Stand-out discounts on traditional laptops include a 15.6-inch HP laptop for $329.99 at Office Depot — discounted $270 for Black Friday.

Clothing

Clothing deals typically get sweeter on Cyber Monday, but if online shopping isn’t for you, mid-tier clothing stores like Forever 21, H&M, Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, and Abercrombie & Fitch, will definitely offer 40% to 60% off, possibly site and store-wide on Black Friday.

Glaser predicts broad sales of 40% off on high-end brands like Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Cole Haan and Ralph Lauren in stores and online. “In the last couple of years, designers really have taken to Black Friday discounts, maybe previously that was considered something for lower-end brands, but now it cuts across all stores.”

Home appliances

For those who prefer to shop online, it’s the perfect time to jump on rare sitewide free-shipping and installation deals on big-ticket home appliances. Delivery for these oversized items can often add hundreds of dollars to the price. DealNews predicts many of the best-of-the-year prices on large appliances at stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s. At Sears, Glaser says to look out for deep discounts on Kenmore appliances.
