You Can Now Stay in a Tiny House Resort On Oregon’s Mt. Hood

Would you spend your vacation days in 175 square feet?

Portland, Oregon may be ground zero for the tiny house revolution (as proven by this Portlandia sketch), but the trend is climbing straight up Mount Hood.

A new collection of cozy vacation rentals has opened on the mountain, which is about an hour outside of Portland. The Mount Hood Tiny House Village is made up of five adorable tiny houses set up on the property of the Mount Hood Village RV Resort, reported The Oregonian.

The tiny houses, which range from 175 to 260 square feet, each come with a theme: there’s the pet-friendly cedar-clad Lincoln, the tiny blue Zoe, and the bright-red Scarlett, which sleeps five.

The tiny houses were all custom built for the resort by the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. While tiny houses live up to their diminutive name, they do come with a fully functional kitchen, full bathroom, two-person dining area, and bedroom space for three to five people. Rates to stay at the Mount Hood Tiny House Village start at $129 per night.

These cozy homes are the perfect place for people who want to enjoy the wonders of the wilderness, but prefer to sleep on a mattress instead of on a bed roll in a tent.

To take advantage of the full Oregon experience, take a drive out of Portland along the Columbia River Highway—making sure to stop in Hood River, which is one of Travel + Leisure’s prettiest mountain towns—and head to the mountain to check into your tiny house.

While in Portland, there are plenty of tiny house options listed on Airbnb, but if tiny houses aren’t your thing, check out our list of great small hotels.
