Spooky season just wouldn't be complete without an annual rewatch of everyone's favorite witchy Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus. Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, this 1993 cult-favorite film has garnered so many dedicated fans over the years that Disney+ is now developing a highly-anticipated sequel!

Although still in its early stages, Hocus Pocus 2 was officially announced in October 2019, with Hairspray director Adam Shankman and Workaholics writer and producer Jen D’Angelo attached to the project. In fact, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Midler stated that she’s “absolutely” ready to reprise her famous role, adding “I can’t wait to fly!”

Set in Salem, Massachusetts, Hocus Pocus starts off in the year 1693, when three evil witches, a.k.a. Winifred, Sarah and Mary Sanderson, are about to be executed for witchcraft. Winifred casts a curse on their bodies, promising to return if and when a virgin lights their black flame candle on Halloween night.

In present day, teenager Max Dennison, played by Omri Katz, settles into a new life after moving to Salem. While trick-or-treating with his younger sister, Dani (Thora Birch) and new crush, Allison (Vinessa Shaw), the group decides to explore the witches' haunted cottage, where he accidentally summons the Sanderson sisters back to life. Now, with the help of magical cat Thackery Binx, the kids must help defeat the sisters to prevent them from becoming immortal.
