‘Want to live inside the MTV logo?’ House for sale in Illinois has wild mix of styles
The random interior decor of an estate for sale in Illinois has people talking on a popular Twitter real estate segment.
The eight-bedroom, 12-bathroom estate, located in Highland Park and listed for $5.199 million, sits on almost an acre near Lake Michigan.
“Unlike any offering on Chicago’s North Shore, this magical estate is truly a work of historic sophistication reflecting the best of old world elegance that perfectly melds with modern luxuries meant for the most discerning buyer,” the listing on Zillow.com says.
“In the nearly two years it took to build this architectural masterpiece, no expense was spared to replicate the grandeur of a 100-year-old home. 86 Prospect Ave’s extraordinary beauty has graced the cover of Frontgate Magazine and been featured in Beautiful Kitchens, North Shore magazine, and countless publications showcasing its exceptional quality craftsmanship.”
Features in and around the 17,000-square-foot estate include:
High ceilings
Six fireplaces
Hidden storage closet
Elevator
Touch-less lights
Chef’s kitchen
Indoor BBQ
Secret playrooms
Safe room
Conservatory
Gym
Massage room
Wine room
Nanny suite
Swimming pool
Fire pit
Whole-house generator
The home was featured on Saturday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment run by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis that highlights unique houses for sale.
This is wild. Seems like the entire house has a mirror image hers/his design. Like a couple *really* couldn't agree on finishes and they could afford to build both. 17,000 sf. https://t.co/6UauXYgJl1? pic.twitter.com/pAEI2rF8Gh

Mystery solved. Very high production value video of this mansion from last year doesn't have the whitewashed designs. It does have dramatic music. https://t.co/aGxrM5fCxT

And people were a tad perplexed.
“I did not expect to find that room in *this* house,” someone said about the colorful, yet out of place room in the home.
“I recognize that. It’s the modern floor with kiddie wallpaper,” one person noted.
“No one should mix skulls and game trophies with french provincial furniture. Not even in Highland Park,” another tweeted.
“Ever wanted to live INSIDE the MTV logo?” someone asked.
“This reminds me of those party rooms that host birthday parties at bowling alleys,” one person said.
“What is going on with those pictures!?!?” another asked. “Is the house mirrored with rooms that look identical but are decorated/painted different? Is it a before and after? Is one of them real, and the other is photoshopped? I can’t tell!”
