Walmart Responds To Rivals' False Advertising Accusations With A Zinger

Walmart rivals are complaining about an advertising campaign that calls them out for having higher prices, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Retailers like Toys 'R' Us and some regional supermarket chains say that Walmart's claims are inaccurate. They say Walmart is "making misleading comparisons or promoting products the company does not have in ample supply," according to Reuters.

Walmart's response?

It's quite amused.

So much so that the world's largest retailer included a little zinger in its statement on the issue.

Here's what spokesperson Steven Restivo gave The Wall Street Journal:

"We know competitors don't like it when we tell customers to compare prices and see for themselves.

We are confident on the legal, ethical and methodological standards associated with our price comparison ads."

Four states — Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Missouri — are looking into the issue.
