Vine star Adam Perkins dead at 24: 'The humor he created will go on for a generation'

Vine star Adam Perkins has died at age 24, his twin brother Patrick Perkins wrote in an Instagram post.

The social media influencer was best known for his viral “Hi, Welcome to Chili’s” Vine and also for his role in the explosively popular “Adam” Vine. The two short clips are remarkably infectious and became a sort of understood internet inside joke for a legion of young internet users when they were shared in 2015.

“My brother, Adam Perkins, passed away this previous Sunday, 4-11-21,” Patrick said in an Instagram caption. No cause of death was mentioned.

Patrick opened up about how close he was with his twin brother.

“I can’t even really put into words what this loss means for me. I’m often asked the question, ‘What’s it like to be a twin?’ and my response is usually, ‘What’s it like to NOT be a twin?'” he said. “It’s all I’ve known. and I’m struggling to find the words to explain what it will be like for me to live in this world without him. My best friend.”

Patrick said he would be releasing Adam’s album, Latch Relay, on limited edition vinyl. Adam originally released music in 2018 under the name Plas Teg.

Adam’s ex-boyfriend Kelton Elliot also shared a tribute to the late star on Instagram.

“This past weekend my forever best friend and ex-boyfriend passed, and I’ve been devastated. We spent almost every day and night in 2020 and 2021 together … We were there for each other during the hardest year of our lives,” he wrote. “I could and have talked about him for hours, but I’m just saying one thing right now: Me and him discussed how we’d want to be remembered after we died, and he said he’d like to be remembered for his art, his music.”

Fans also paid tribute to Adam’s life on Twitter.

“RIP Adam Perkins. The humor he created will go on for a generation. Thinking of his loved ones today,” one user wrote.

“RIP to Vine legend and musician Adam Perkins. Sending all the love and healing to his family, friends and fans,” another said.
