Verizon Communications (VZ) Dips More Than Broader Markets: What You Should Know

Verizon Communications (VZ) closed the most recent trading day at $59.50, moving -0.77% from the previous trading session. This move lagged the S&P 500's daily loss of 0.31%. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 0.52%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 0.28%.

Prior to today's trading, shares of the largest U.S. cellphone carrier had gained 6.5% over the past month. This has outpaced the Computer and Technology sector's gain of 2.54% and the S&P 500's gain of 2.92% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from VZ as it approaches its next earnings release. On that day, VZ is projected to report earnings of $1.24 per share, which would represent year-over-year growth of 1.5%.
