Under Armour: Dave Dombrow Back as Chief Design Officer

Dave Dombrow, the mastermind behind Stephen Curry's "Curry One" signature shoe, UA SpeedForm Apollo running shoes and Cam Newton’s signature sneakers is back at Under Armour, Inc. UA.  Dombrow joined Under Armour in 2010 but left the company three months ago with the intention to join the company’s arch rival, NIKE, Inc. NKE.

Dombrow will rejoin Under Armour on Aug 1, 2016 as Chief Design Officer. Dombrow has earned a name for himself in the industry given his hunch about the need of athletes and thus, his return will definitely boost the company’s business going forward.

Further, Under Armour continues to seek opportunities for increasing its global footprint and market share. Though the company generates a major portion of its revenues from the North American region, it intends to expand business operations to other parts of the world to mitigate the risks associated with geographic concentration. To this end, the company has opened its factory and brand stores in Canada and China as well as given franchise licenses in many countries over the years.

We are optimistic about Under Armour’s strong performance in the past several quarters. The company has maintained revenue growth of over 20% in the past 24 quarters. In the first quarter of 2016, revenues surged 30.2% year over year. Strong demand for the company’s product as well as better execution of strategy led management to provide sturdy outlook. Under Armour now projects net revenue of about $5 billion for 2016, up 26% year over year. Operating income is projected to be approximately between $503 million and $507 million, up 23–24% year over year.
