It’s been a long time since the world’s been given the gift of a full album from Katy Perry, but that’s all about to change. Katy is in the studio working on her new masterpiece and we’re so excited we can barely handle it. In an interview with Elvis Duran’s radio show on Wednesday, she talked about what’s up next for her musically, as well as how she keeps her mega busy life in order.

Apparently, you may not recognize Katy’s new music right off the bat. She’s working with new producers and writers in order to concoct a fresh sound for her fans.

“I’m working with a lot of unexpected writers and producers and maybe people that you wouldn’t expect to pair me with. That’s bringing out a lot of different things sonically, but that’s kind of always been my vibe.”

She wants everyone to know, though, that the inspiring messages we often hear in her songs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“The other day I was like, ‘I’m going to write a song about sex!’ I did it, and I think it’s really great, because I still have sex and I like to write about all my life experiences! But I think I was put on this earth to lift people up and elevate people and do that through my messages, quite frankly.”

I mean, did we expect anything less from the woman who coined the phrase, “Baby, you’re a firework”?

Katy also shared a little bit about the things that help her feel grounded when life gets a little bit crazy. Get this: She loves Panda Express. She loves orange chicken from Panda Express, to be exact.

“And the funny thing is I’m in the middle of [the] record process so I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe I need to get that body back.’…I’ve been eating really well for breakfast and lunch but I’m like, ‘Oh that orange chicken glaze!'”

She is seriously all of us. Additionally, Katy takes herself to therapy regularly so she can make sense of all the things happening around her — and she’s not afraid to admit it.

“I go to therapy, I don’t get excessive on the substance, I’ve kind of learned that dance … it’s difficult in this industry. You’re holding on for dear life and you feel like you’re riding a rocket, and now I’m kind of not holding on for dear life. I’ve learned how to ride it, and I’m surfing and feeling good!”

We’d love to chow down on some orange chicken with Katy one day. In the meantime, we’ll wait for her new album to come out and keep an eye on her blooming relationship (pun intended) with Orlando Bloom.
