Twitter Says Yes To Yes

Twitter has acquired startup Yes Inc. that has been developing social apps like Frenzy, Heyo! and WYD. Yes CEO Keith Coleman will become Twitter’s new VP of Product.

Twitter has acquired startup Yes Inc. that has been developing social apps like Frenzy, Heyo! and WYD. Yes CEO Keith Coleman will become Twitter’s new VP of Product. Twitter CTO Adam Messinger announced the acquisition on Twitter Thursday.

Coleman worked at Google where he led the development of products like Gmail, Inbox and Google Chat, before founding Yes in 2014.

Coleman and six other Yes employees are joining Twitter in product and design roles, and Coleman will take over the day-to-day leadership of Bluebird, according to Recode.

Yes could be a great change for Twitter, which has been criticized for taking too long to ship product changes. The Yes team could also help Twitter by taking cues from other apps, similar to how Instagram has been adding Snapchat inspired features.

Yes will be shutting down its own offerings in the coming weeks, in the wake of the transition.

“Our team has always admired Twitter, a product that brings the whole world closer. From elections to revolutions, olympics to arts, it connects people across the globe around the events that are happening right now. Twitter also speaks to our love of working at a global scale. Prior to forming Yes, our team spent their careers building products like Gmail, Android, PayPal and others that serve hundreds of millions of people, and we’re excited to bring our efforts to connecting the world at a huge scale,” Yes wrote in a blog post.
