Traders forecast best bets as the mercury drops all around the US

Adam Jeffery | CNBC

The " Fast Money " traders on Friday debated which stocks stood to benefit the most, as temperatures drop around the country.

Cold weather can help companies like Burlington Stores (NYSE: BURL), pushing them into the top tier of expected same-store-sales-growth range when they report earnings, said Trader David Seaburg. He said that Gap (NYSE: GPS) and Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) are other interesting stocks in the sector, as they too may benefit from a cold winter.

Trader Tim Seymour said that when the temperature outside drops quickly, people are more likely to stay inside, which would benefit a company like Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN).

Yet trader Steve Grasso said he's more interested in automotive retail and companies like O'Reilly Automotive (NASDAQ: ORLY), Advanced Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP) and Autozone (NYSE: AZO). He explained that once snow hits, people need plows and other winter gear.
