Tracy Morgan Gets Married, Nabs Lavish New Jersey Mansion

BUYER: Tracy Morgan
LOCATION: Alpine, N.J.
PRICE: $13.9 million
SIZE: 7 bedrooms, 10 full and 2 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Tracy Morgan is on the mend and moving on after a Wal-Mart delivery truck plowed into his limo last year and severely wounded him and took the life of another passenger, comedian James McNair. The seven-season “Saturday Night Live” alum and Emmy-nominated “30 Rock” star, who suffered numerous broken bones as well as traumatic brain injuries, is scheduled to make his triumphant return to “SNL” in October, married his longtime lady-friend Megan Wollover last week in an event described in the press as “emotional” and “moving,” and together they’ve shelled out $13.9 million for a fully landscaped two-acre spread with a 22-room mansion in the posh bedroom community of Alpine, New Jersey. A gated drive curls up to a motor court at the front of the symmetrically designed mansion and continues around the side of the house to a secondary parking area and garaging for six cars. Listing details, which describe the mansion as a “brick and slate colonial manor,” don’t indicate the square footage but do show there are a total of seven bedrooms and 10 full and two half bathrooms spread over three floors.

A baronial, guest-impressing reception hall has a double-height ceiling and is decadently dressed with herringbone pattern wood floors, fanciful moldings, a couple of Subaru-sized chandeliers, and a fireplace flanked by towering — if somewhat suggestively shaped — arched windows. Elegantly proportioned formal living and dining rooms are joined by an opulently paneled library/office with coffered and stenciled ceiling treatment and arched bookshelves set on either side of a television-surmounted fireplace with money green marble surround. A spacious, expensively equipped, and almost entirely beige center island kitchen adjoins a melodramatic, double-height breakfast room and the nearby family room, which is smaller than one might imagine in a massive manse committed to such grandeur in other rooms, features oversized multi-pane windows, a fireplace set into an angled corner, and a built-in entertainment unit that accommodates a supersized television. In addition to the double-wide main staircase, a secondary staircase and an elevator provide access to the mansion’s second floor that’s split in two wings linked by a bridge that passes through the capacious foyer and reception hall. There are four en suite guest/family bedrooms plus a master suite with sitting room on the second floor plus additional living space over the garage that includes, per listing details, at least one more bedroom and a bathroom. The basement level is chock full of lavish amenities that include a home theater with tiered seating, a bar area, fitness room, a racquetball court and a two-lane bowling alley while the grounds, ringed and privatized with mature trees, include a soccer-pitch-sized lawn, prairie-sized paver-tiled terrace, swimming pool/spa, and a roomy poolside cabana with kitchen and bathroom.

About 15 miles out of Midtown Manhattan, Alpine has long been ranked by the Forbes folk as one of the most expensive zip codes in America — the community pegged in at No. 6 in 2014 with a median sale price of $5,025,423 — and has a long history of high-profile residents and homeowners who, according to our research, currently include Stevie Wonder, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Lil’ Kim, and Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, whose big ol’ house includes an indoor basketball court.

According to a variety of online resources, the newly wedded Morgans won’t have far to truck their belongings. In fact, their huge new home is less than a mile from a much smaller, 5,375-square-foot mini-mansion in the neighboring community of Cresskill, N.J., that Mister Morgan picked up in the spring of 2011 for $2.2 million.
