Town issues reminder about winter parking rules

·1 min read

There may not be any snow on the ground yet, but the Town is already reminding residents about winter parking rules that will come into effect on November 15.

As of that date, parking on all streets is prohibited between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

The rules are in place to facilitate street maintenance including snow plowing, clearing and removal.

It should be noted that the ban on parking on town streets during those hours is in effect whether it is snowing or not, so if you think leaving your car on the street because the plows won’t be coming through will be okay, you will still be subject to a fine.

Vehicles parked on the street during those hours will be ticketed.

If it is deemed necessary to remove the vehicle to facilitate maintenance, the vehicle owner will be charged with the cost of removal.

If you receive a ticket, it will be a $35 fine and must be paid voluntarily within ten days.

If the fine is not paid within ten days, the fine will increase to $52.50.

If you leave your car on the street and it snows, the town will not be liable for any damage done by street maintenance equipment during snow clearing operations.

Outside of the winter rules regarding parking, a five-hour parking restriction is in effect unless otherwise signed.
