Top 5 Bike-uriosities – Week of 8/29

Top 5 Bike-uriosities – Week of 8/29

At Bike-urious, we’re spending all of our time finding the most interesting motorcycles that are currently for sale for you to drool over (and maybe empty your wallet for). So let’s take a look at our five favorite offerings from this week!

1. Period Road Racer – 1976 Ducati 900SS

It makes me think of a beluga whale, but this is one of the most interesting examples of the Ducati 900SS I've ever seen. Built in the 70s to compete in Italian endurance racing, it's got all the goodies you'd want.

This bike (VIN: 086149) features an Imola exhaust, larger tank, race fairing, dry clutch, oil cooler, upgraded shocks, and stronger Borrani wheels. It's said to be in "very very good" condition and it comes with Italian paperwork.

2. The KAgusta – BMW K-Series Custom

I've featured a few of Larry Romestant's "Special K" builds in the past, like "The Executive". They're all variations based on flying bricks, but the only one I've really been intrigued by is this build, called the "KAgusta." I first saw it in person several years ago and I've been intrigued by it since - but now I finally know what the asking price is. Take a guess before you read on!

The build combines a '97 K1100LT with the engine from a '04 K1200RS. Obviously there's a lot more to it than that - highlights include the twin shock swingarm, drum brakes front and rear, and a custom brake/clutch actuation system.

Jay Leno featured Larry's bikes (and rode this exact model) in an episode of "Jay Leno's Garage."

Find the KAgusta for sale here on Bator International in Los Angeles, California for $54,950. How close was your guess?

3. Could It Be? 1933 NSU Twin Engine Custom

The seller has no feedback and the bike's going to need some work, but this is definitely one of the most interesting twin-engine motorcycles I've ever seen... assuming the listing's for real.

This bike is quite a mutt - it features two 500cc engines from a NSU OSL, a NSU tranny, the fuel tank from an ABC, the front end from a Mars, BMW handlebars... you get the idea. It's not running and it doesn't have a title, plus one of the carbs is missing. Still, it's a hell of a project, and when the seller says you won't find another bike like this, I've got to believe he's not wrong!

Find this crazy NSU for sale in West Palm Beach, Florida with bidding up to $10,300 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $18,000 here on eBay.

4. The Huskymer – 1976 BMW R75/6 Custom

Built by Mokka Cycles, the Kuskymer is named as it's a Husky tank on a BMW slash 5. It's a weird concept, but do you think it works well?

For what it's worth, the builder modified the frame to accept the tank and not vice-versa. The engine and brakes were rebuilt, and there's plenty of CNC custom parts. For more information on the build, check out this article on the Bike Shed.

The seller is the client who commissioned the build and apparently had the idea for the Husky tank lunacy in the first place. He/she is now starting a new business and needs to get rid of the bike for some more capital. Find this Husky/Beemer for sale here on the Bike Shed in Prague, Czech Republic for $10,048.

5. 1954 RSY A54

Here's something I've never heard of before - the Japanese manufacturer RSY. The seller says he's "been able to determine this is the only example of the RSY known to exist." I don't know how someone goes about proving that, but it sure is a rare find.

This bike (VIN: A543555) uses a 200cc engine made by Kawasaki back when they were Kawasaki Aircraft Industries and before they were building motorcycles. It was acquired from the estate of the original owner, who got the bike in the Japan and then brought it to the US and left it in his basement. The seller says it has "all the requirements" to run, but he's never tried to start it himself. Check out that Mercedes-Benz-ish logo!

Any mention of the RSY you can find online will feature this motorcycle, including this link on Ed Youngblood's Moto History, which feature the seller and his bike at the annual Davenport meet. Turns out the seller's willing to bring it Davenport again this year, though because the decals are water based and he doesn't have covered transportation, he can't take it if it's raining!
