Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. shares were down 1.66% on about 960,000 shares traded after it was revealed that Oppenheimer has downgraded the stock. Analyst Brian Bittner wrote, "We respect management's marketing, digital and new product strategies, but don't view them as transformative enough." According to the analyst, Wall Street is too optimistic about Chipotle's earnings trajectory. "The Street's margin expansion assumptions could be difficult to achieve without meaningful sales upside owing to labor headwinds, potential store-level investments and lack of menu-pricing upside," he wrote. The analyst lowered his rating from Perform to Underperform and gave it a new 12- to 18-month price target of $400.
