TikTok is obsessed with this unexpected wedding moment: ‘This will be a new trend’

Who needs a flower girl when you can have a flower man?

Joshua Gilliard redefined the wedding role at his cousin Taylor Ferguson-Robinson’s socially distanced ceremony in March 2020. TikTok is now obsessed with the footage of the joyful moment Gilliard strutted down the aisle.

It was a sunny Atlanta day when Gilliard danced his way toward the groomsmen at the outdoor wedding. Wearing a strapping tuxedo with a fanny pack across his chest, Gilliard dug his hand into the fanny pack to grab handfuls of flowers as he moved along and the crowd went absolutely wild. Then he suavely took his place with the rest of the wedding party.

The moment to remember amassed over 2.1 million views on TikTok.

“I promised my cousin and her husband it would be the best day of their life and if we felt the flower girl wasn’t up to it, I would be her flower man but I would do it my way,” Gilliard told In The Know.

The flower man was basically born for the unexpected moment.

“I was just being myself,” he said. “I’m an artist and natural-born entertainer. Once the camera is on… I’m on. Plus, I love to dance so it was my time to shine.”

Gilliard’s performance got glowing reviews on social media.

“It’s the music, the walk, the vibe. I love it,” one person wrote.

“Can I hire this man just to walk with me through the mall throwing petals like this? Iconic,” another said.

“The best flower man I’ve ever seen! I think this will be a new trend,” someone commented.
