Tiger Woods is on the mend after undergoing back surgery.

Woods' team announced on Tuesday that the 45-year-old pro golfer recently underwent "a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching his nerve after experiencing discomfort following the PNC Championship."

A message shared on Wood's Twitter said doctors believe the operation was a success and "expect him to make a full recovery."

"I look forward to begin training and am focused on getting back out on Tour," Woods said in a statement of his own.

Woods will not be competing at the Farmers Insurance Open later this month and the Genesis Invitational in February, though he is still expected to serve as the tournament host for the latter event.

Woods underwent his first back surgery for a pinched nerve in 2014, missing the Masters for the first time in his professional career.

Woods withdrew from the Wyndham Championship in 2015 for a second microdiscectomy procedure. However, the pain persisted and he had to undergo a third back surgery shortly after.

In 2017, the athlete announced that he had undergone a fourth back surgery "to alleviate ongoing pain in his back and leg," his team said in a statement.

Woods most recently appeared PNC Championship alongside his son 11-year-old son Charlie, where the young boy made an impressive shot on the first day of the event.

In a video shared by the PGA Tour, Woods stood to the side as Charlie drove the ball around 175 yards, which set him up for an eagle. "Awesome shot," Woods was heard telling his son on the green.

After Charlie finished up the hole, the proud dad had a big smile on his face as he clapped and gave his son a high five. "That's your first eagle," Woods said, according to ESPN, made their way off the green.

Woods and Charlie went on to start off the second day of the tournament strong, with the dad making an eagle and putting the team just four shots from the lead.

"I don't think words can describe it. Just the fact that we were able to have this experience together, Charlie and I," Woods told reporters. "It's memories for a lifetime."

Despite the duo's valiant efforts, Justin and Mike Thomas ended up winning the event.
