Thomas Tuchel refused to blame his Chelsea players after their FA Cup final defeat – but told them they have three games to save their season.

Youri Tielemans’ second-half wonder goal sealed a 1-0 win for Leicester City at Wembley.

The two sides face each other again on Tuesday in what is potentially a play-off for the top four.

With Liverpool pressing hard for Champions League qualification, defeat for either side would put them in serious danger of missing out.

Chelsea also have the Champions League final coming up, with Tuchel admitting his side have it all to play for.

“There’s no team in sports that never loses,” he said. “Now it’s about coming back, bouncing back and showing mentality again on Tuesday.

“We lost a trophy and we are very sad about that, but we have another competition now.

“Now we have two finals against Leicester and Aston Villa, and then another final in the Champions League. We have a lot to do and we cannot regret too long.”

Tuchel was left fuming after defeat to Arsenal in midweek, but insisted his Chelsea were unfortunate to lose on this occasion.

“Of course we are disappointed, but we are not angry, it’s not on our boys,” he added. “Today we are simply unlucky.

“We have never hidden the fact that you need luck in this game to be able to win on this level.

“All the time you need momentum, little details and decision making, referee and sometimes with a shot like today.”

Yet Tuchel did admit Chelsea were culpable for failing to hurt Leicester enough from promising positions.

He said: “In the decision-making we were a bit too hectic, a bit too straight up front.

“We wanted to force the solution too far, we had unnecessary ball losses and imprecise decision making.

“We created some two-against-two and two-against-three situations, that we couldn’t do as well as we should have.

“It sticks a bit with us throughout the season and it is a lack of composure and precision. It holds you back from winning games.

“We had the same issues in other games where we were able to score. If we score a late goal, maybe we talk about the performance in a different way.”
