There's yet another new Porsche 911 — and it's the most hardcore money can buy

(Porsche ) The hardcore racetrack-supercar is to all the rage these days.

Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and McLaren have each introduced track-special rides that can take it to the track.

The genre dates to the original Porsche 911 GT3 — an obviously influential car that's just been updated!

Introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the GT3 RS is the most track-focused 911 money can buy these days.

And Porsche says that the GT3 RS is " is equipped with the maximum amount of motorsport technology that is currently possible in a street-legal 911 suitable for everyday driving."

Nice!

So what does Porsche mean when they say "motorsport technology?"

Lets start with the engine. It's a 500-horsepower, 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-6 cylinder engine that's the largest of its kind ever installed in a 911.

Transferring power through Porsche's terrific PDK twin-clutch transmission, the GT3 RS is capable of 0-60 mph runs of just 3.1 seconds.

(Porsche ) But that's just the tip of iceberg. Everything about this car is purely focused on getting around a racetrack faster. Its lightweight magnesium roof lowers the center of gravity — making GT3 more stable around corners. Even its engine and luggage compartment covers are made of carbon fiber.

The result is a 20 pound total reduction in the already lightweight 911 GT3.

Porsche has also thrown in some extra-special stuff. The suspension is tuned for racing and the rear wheels can steer themselves. Then there's this thing called "torque vectoring," which enables the car to hit corners and hit them hard, losing no stability in the process.

Inside, the GT3 RS is as hardcore as the rest of the car. Clad in Alcantara, the RS interior features a pair of carbon seats and a slew of electronic track applications aimed at providing the driver with data and telemetry.

So what do you have to fork out to get your hands on all this Porsche motorsports technology? $175,900. That's an incredible $45,000 more than the already impressive GT3. But if you're truly committed to have the most track-focused Porsche 911 money can buy, the GT3 RS is still the way to go.

The GT3 RS hits US showrooms in early July 2015.
