Every New Car With 500 HP or More for under $100,000
No one needs 500 horsepower to feel safe on the road. A vehicle with triple the power of most economy cars and crossovers has the potential for utter lunacy. For us, 500 horsepower feels like a healthy figure for maximum fun (safely, of course) at the most affordable price. For under $100,000, this wide variety of 500-horsepower coupes, sedans, trucks, and SUVs fit the bill. Here, we've listed them from least to most expensive.

2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance: 510 hp
Price: $56,630
After a brief hiatus, the Model 3 Performance is back with an exterior refresh and more standard equipment like the regular Model 3 trims. Tesla claims zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and a BMW-style drift mode. No doubt it will deliver, though in this car’s absence, many other performance EVs have come out that are more attractive and compelling, but Tesla’s low price is a big draw.

2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse: 500 hp
Price: $62,230
Without a Shelby model available anymore, the Dark Horse wears the crown as the most powerful, track-ready Mustang. The big 5-0 from the GT sounds like an IMSA race car, and the tires are equally overwhelming—305 mm in the front, 315 mm in back. It's very much a traditional Mustang, with a lot of engine and weight, but the interior is now a lot nicer.

2024 Kia EV6 GT: 576 hp
Price: $62,975
As our 2024 Performance EV of the Year, the Kia EV6 GT is very much in its own orbit. It looks like a spaceship and delivers four-wheel drifts for under 70 grand, all while retaining the livability and practicality of a four-door crossover. It does face new competition now that the even more powerful Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, also found on this list, is on sale.
We Ordered a Long-Term Test Car
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: 641 hp
Price: $67,495
We now live in a time where Hyundais can drag-race Lamborghinis—and win. But only if you’re in this Hyundai, which is incredibly entertaining and the biggest surprise yet from the Hyundai N performance division. The fake gear-change and gas-engine sounds are silly, but the rest of this retro hatch is genuinely enjoyable to see and feel. It’s truly a supercar in everyman clothes.
2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV 2WT: 510 hp
Price: $70,000 (est.)
A bare-bones pickup truck with 510 horsepower—huh? The electric Silverado EV is different from other basic white-painted, steel-wheeled work trucks from General Motors. It's a nearly 10,000-pound unibody pickup that claims to drive up to 450 miles and tow more than 12,000 pounds in WT trim, albeit not at once. The front of the bed folds down so tailgate cargo can slide into the cab. Considering how fast this "work truck" can accelerate, be judicious when braking so all that cargo doesn't end up on your dash.
2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash: 580 hp
Price: $70,090
An F-150 Lightning can accelerate to 60 mph a few tenths slower than the 720-hp Raptor R with the supercharged V-8, for about $40,000 less. While it looks relatively plain among electric pickups, the Lightning acts like a regular F-150 in everyday usability. The new Flash trim adds the larger battery—which provides an estimated 320 miles of range—and a 15.5-inch touchscreen that aren't available on the Pro and XLT.
First Look: F-150 Lightning Switchgear
2025 Rivian R1T and R1S: 533 hp
Price: $71,700 (R1T) / $77,700 (R1S)
Rivian is on a roll with original design and impressive on- and off-road performance from its four-door R1T pickup and R1S SUV. Updates for 2025 include an air suspension retuned for more comfort and a simplified electrical architecture with fewer computer modules. The standard model only offers a 258-mile range, but for $7000, the larger battery allows up to 330 miles.
2025 BMW i4 M50: 536 hp
Price: $71,875
While technically not a full M car, the i4 M50 drives like an electric M3. It's faster than a rear-wheel-drive M3 to 60 mph (3.3 seconds) despite more than 1000 extra pounds of weight. It's just like a gas-powered 4-Series Gran Coupe in size and style, and for 2025, the i4 gains laser taillights with ultra-thin red lines. Don't fret about 245 miles of range. Flat-footing an M3 won't let you drive much farther.
2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: 650 hp
Price: $75,395
Borrowing its 650-hp supercharged V-8 from the C7-generation Corvette Z06, the Camaro ZL1 is done after 2024. The level of grip and roadholding makes it a worthy track car, especially with the 1LE package that includes extra-sticky tires and a manually adjustable suspension. If you can find one of 350 Collector's Edition or one of the 56 Garage 56 Edition cars, buy one immediately.
The Sixth-Gen Camaro Deserved Better
2025 BMW M3 / M4 Competition: 503 hp
Price: $81,375/$84,375
You might have heard the stereotype that BMW M3 and M4 drivers act like jerks on the road. Can you blame them, when this much power, control, luxury, and nasty exhaust notes come standard for 80 grand? The M3 and M4 so fast and stable that they impart a feeling of invincibility. Only all-wheel-drive models get the full 523 hp. Rear-wheel-drive models have 503 hp, while a six-speed manual is available on "base" models and lowers output to 473 hp.
The M4 CSL Has Even More Power
2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia / Stelvio Quadrifoglio: 505 hp
Price: $81,855 (Giulia) / $94,965 (Stelvio)
The four-leaf clover Alfas are gone after 2024, and what could possibly replace these raw, boisterous machines with Ferrari-based turbo V-6 engines and huge phone-dial wheels is unknown. These are analog machines with minimal electronics. They're uncommonly beautiful and not even remotely practical. Try operating the wiper or turn signal stalk—you can't! They're blocked by huge metal shift paddles, which should tell you everything you need to know about Alfa Romeo.

2024 Tesla Cybertruck Dual Motor: 600 hp
Price: $81,895
It’s the dumbest vehicle in decades, or it’s the best thing to happen to pickup trucks since the Ford Model T. The Cybertruck is a cultural moment, until the culture inevitably moves on. Through the first half of 2024, the razor-sharp, kind-of-bulletproof Tesla is outselling Rivian and Ford EV pickups. No one can argue with 17 inches of ground clearance. Tesla’s 340-mile range claim on the dual-motor trim, like any EV pickup, isn’t likely based in the real world.
2024 BMW X3 M / 2025 X4 M Competition: 503 hp
Price: $83,495 (X3 M) / $87,275 (X4 M)
The X3 M is two cars in one. It's a practical SUV and a genuine track car—truly an M3 with a taller roof and a tailgate. The X4 M curves the roof for a few grand more. These are stiff, low-riding SUVs that do not tolerate badly-paved roads. In return, their twin-turbo straight-six delivers oodles of thrust and the ability for heroic rear-wheel-drive drifts in 4WD Sport mode. For extra cargo space and similar speed as their car siblings, it's hard to beat these two SUVs. Note: The X3 M is based on the previous-gen X3, not the 2025 redesign.

2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E-Performance: 671 hp
Price: $85,050
This is the first C 63 without the famous AMG V-8. Instead there’s a turbocharged and electrically supercharged four-cylinder, paired with a heavy and complex plug-in-hybrid system. The power and specs are impressive. The experience leaves a lot on the table. AMG buyers aren’t budging, so Mercedes is already rumored to be flip-flopping back to a V-8 for the future models.
We Feel Conflicted about the New C 63
2025 BMW i5 M50: 536 hp
Price: $85,275
Want an i4 with a roomier back seat? The i5 M60 has the same amount of horsepower and the same 60 mph time within the larger footprint of a 5-series. A 256-mile range and fake leather called Veganza—no joke—are standard fare, and the electric i5 now represents the most powerful 5-series you can buy apart from the new plug-in-hybrid M5.
2025 BMW X5 / X6 M60i: 523 hp
Price: $91,175/$95,475
The base six-cylinder X5 is more than powerful enough, but BMW saw fit to put the same V-8 as the previous-gen M550i in its mid-size SUV. If you don't think that's enough, there's the even more powerful X5 M, but that'll cost over $100,000. And if you want the same basic thing in a less practical package with fussier styling, step up to the X6.
2024 Tesla Model S / Model X Plaid: 1020 hp
Price: $91,630 (Model S) / $96,630 (Model X)
These are the EVs that started the electric speed race, and they’re still blindingly fast for not much money. The Model S sedan and falcon-wing Model X SUV in Plaid trim have three motors with 1020 hp. The S shoots to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds—faster than anything on our list, faster than any other EV, faster than a Bugatti, faster than most everything selling at double, triple, or ten times the price. Given its age, the Plaid falls apart in corners and faster speeds. A Lucid Air Sapphire is the superior driver’s car. But the Lucid is a quarter-million bucks, and the cheaper Dual Motor trims of these Teslas still pack 670 hp for around $80,000.
The Plaid Isn't All About Lunacy
2025 Audi SQ7/2024 SQ8: 500 hp
Price: $92,690/$97,795
Audi's largest SUVs pack four or six cylinders unless the letter "S" precedes their names. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine is a sweetheart, always polite yet ready to unwind at full boost. A mild exterior refresh changes the grille and headlights on the 2025 SQ7, but ever so slightly. This is an Audi, after all, and good design doesn't need to change. The two-row SQ8 is the basis for the RS Q8, which is the basis for the quarter-million-dollar Lamborghini Urus. That fact, and the savings from buying the Audi, should help anyone with a $100,000 car sleep better at night.
2025 Jaguar F-Pace SVR: 575 hp
Price: $93,775
Jaguar's last supercharged V-8 resides in the F-Type and the four-door F-Pace SVR. Nasty and rude, or genteel and quiet? The F-Pace is both, and manages to look sleek after eight model years in production. It also rides and handles well. What happens next, not even Jaguar knows, as it must die to be born again.

2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing: 668 hp
Price: $96,990 (2024 model)
For the past two decades, Cadillac has committed to two loves: The Escalade, and eight-cylinder sport sedans that are terrifyingly fast. The CT5-V Blackwing shows everything Cadillac knows about chassis tuning, steering feel, and hooligan behavior. No other car on sale pairs rear-wheel drive, a stick-shift, and nearly 700 hp. A new Precision Pack upgrades the suspension with modified bushings, steering knuckles, front stabilizer bar, and the ability to adjust camber and toe. A few hand-built Blackwings with custom paint are also available.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Is an Instant Classic
2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup / SUV 2X: 570 hp
Price: $99,340/$99,470
GMC hasn't sold many copies of the Hummer EV, and it’s not hard to understand why it's not for everyone. It’s an enormous, cartoonish vehicle that guzzles down electrons at the same rate its predecessor gulped gas. It’s fun for short bursts, like activating Crab Walk, outrunning sports cars, and making tighter U-turns than compact cars. With roughly half the power of the triple-motor 3X, the base 2X model holds its own as a force of overengineering.
