Swan Hills School Highway Cleanup

·1 min read

On May 1, students from the Swan Hills School will be participating in the Alberta Highway Cleanup. The school has been assigned a 52 km stretch of highway to clean, earning $100 per km. Students will have the opportunity to earn money for their school “bank accounts” to go towards school activities, including school sport fees, field trips, clothing orders, and student fees while performing an act of citizenship for their community. If there is money left in a student’s “bank account” at the end of the school year it will be rolled over for the student’s use during the next school year.

Participants in this event must be at least 9 years of age. All of the necessary equipment for the volunteers participating in this event will be provided by the Alberta Government.

The Highway Cleanup will take place from 9 AM – 5 PM on Saturday, May 1. Participants are to meet at Subway at 8:45 AM to pick up their gloves, bags, vests, and signs. The school’s assigned stretch of highway begins at the junction of HWY 32 and HWY 33, heading east for 52 km to Horse Creek Road.

If you are interested in participating in the Alberta Highway Cleanup, please contact TJ Linger at the Swan Hills School to learn more about the upcoming information session at tj.linger@pembinahills.ca or (780) 333-4471.
