Stocks weak as energy outperforms, Walmart weighs on Dow

Stocks are weak as Walmart weighs on the Dow. Plus, Nordstrom earnings on the way. And … Papa don’t preach? The Pope takes a stand on a Wall Street invention that fueled the financial crisis. Plus, Rick Newman rates the week that was for Donald Trump. Catch The Final Round at 3:55 ET p.m. with Jen Rogers and Yahoo Finance markets correspondent Myles Udland.

Winners and losers

Stocks in the red include JCPenney, as the department store chain has more debt than cash and lowered projections for the year; Cisco, despite beating on both earnings and revenue, as investors are concerned the networking giant’s transition into software isn’t happening fast enough; and Wells Fargo, with shares down on reports that employees altered customer documents in its business-banking unit

Stocks in the green include World Wrestling Entertainment, as the Hollywood Reporter says that the media company is talking to networks other than USA about airing its weekly “Smackdown” television program; Avon, with shares up on insider buying activity as the company discloses that the CEO picked up 250,000 shares, with another insider buying 100,000 shares; and Kroger, as the largest U.S. grocery chain will team up with online grocer Ocado to boost U.S. online deliveries.
