Stingray takes home International Broadcast Group of the Year and International Radio Programmer of the Year
MONTREAL, April 01, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Stingray (TSX: RAY. A; RAY. B.), a leading music, media, and technology company, was presented with two prestigious awards on March 29 at the World Radio Summit, the annual industry convention that attracts broadcast professionals from around the world: International Broadcast Group of the Year and International Radio Programmer of the Year. Stingray received these honours despite stiff competition from leading radio broadcast groups and professionals from around the world.
Only 6 months after entering the radio market with the acquisition of Newfoundland Capital Corporation Limited, one of Canada’s leading radio broadcasters, Stingray was named International Radio Broadcast Group of the Year for 2019, a category that attracts entries from top broadcast groups worldwide. This award confirms that Stingray is already making waves in the radio industry, on par with last year’s winner, Virgin Radio Group.
“We take immense pride in being recognized by our radio industry peers,” said Ian Lurie, Stingray’s President of Radio. “Being celebrated as a global leader is made even sweeter by the fact that Stingray purchased its first radio stations only a few months ago. These awards are a testament to the exceptional work accomplished by everyone at Stingray. We will not rest on our laurels! Just as we’ve always done, we remain committed to adapting to an evolving media landscape and providing our listeners with the highest quality programming in the most popular formats.”
Also, Steve Jones, Stingray’s Senior Vice-President/Brands & Content, Radio, was named International Radio Programmer of the Year for the second time in his career (he previously won in 2014). “I am deeply honoured and grateful,” commented Steve Jones. “Stingray may be new to the radio industry, but it is already setting the standard for quality broadcast on the global stage. Our programming team is a formidable force that produces world-class broadcasts. I am delighted that their excellence has not gone unnoticed. Every day they make me look good; they are the true winners of this award.”
