The Spotted Pig Loses Its Michelin Star in Newly Released Bib Gourmand List

The Michelin Guide just released its list of New York City restaurants that earned the Bib Gourmand distinction — an honored list of restaurants that offer good food for a fair price, but that don’t have a Michelin star.Among the more than 100 restaurants mentioned on the list is a serious surprise: April Bloomfield’s The Spotted Pig, a European gastropub and certified New York City hotspot, has lost its Michelin star for the first time since the Michelin Guide began publishing New York City guides in 2005.

Visiting New York? Don't Miss These 10 Foods

ABC Kitchen, DBGB, and Untitled have all been dropped from the Bib Gourmand list this year, which could possibly signal an upgrade to a Michelin star. (We’ll find out for sure when the 2017 Michelin guide is released for New York City on Nov. 18.)

Michelin has noted that the list welcomes plenty of Brooklyn newcomers, including Achilles Heel and Buttermilk Channel, an American bistro. Other newcomers include Angkor, a Cambodian bistro on the Upper East Side; Chomp Chomp, one of New York’s first Singaporean restaurants on West 4th Street; DomoDomo, a hand roll bar; and Oso, an upscale Mexican restaurant in Harlem.
