Greta Thunberg appeared to have the last laugh as she reignited her Twitter feud with outgoing President Donald Trump as he left office as a one-term President.

The teenage climate activist hit out as Joe Biden was sworn in as America’s 46th President of the United States.

“He seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!” Thunberg wrote on Twitter under a picture of Trump boarding a helicopter to leave the White House.

The zinger was a reference to Trump’s belittling response to Greta after her passionate speech to the United Nations.

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,” she said on September 23, 2019.

“The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line.”

In response, Trump appeared to belittle the then-16-year-old's condemnation of world leaders for their inaction on climate change.

“She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future,” the president tweeted at the time. “So nice to see!”

The feud has been ongoing with many people flocking to lavish Greta with praise, with some saying she should take up stand-up comedy if she manages to stop climate change.

Trump had lashed out at Thunberg at Davos earlier this month saying the teenager "beat him out of Time magazine."

It came after Greta Thunberg has poked fun at Donald Trump as he continued to call for vote counting to stop in the US election.

Mimicking a tweet the president directed at her last year, the 17-year-old climate activist suggested he should "chill" and work on his anger management.

Responding to the US leader's demand to "stop the count", she tweeted a near word-for-word parody of Mr Trump’s words for her when she won Time’s Person Of The Year.

She tweeted: "So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill!"

At the time Mr Trump tweeted: "So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!"

Greta responded soon after by changing her Twitter bio to reference the tweet, describing herself as: "A teenager working on her anger management problem.

“Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend."
